Spring Ducks

I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter. I've had a full weekend of crafting! I have several cards to share with you this week. I couldn't let this season pass without coloring up this adorable digi from Prairie Fairy. The "buttons" are actually from a Bath and Body Shop bag that I had saved because it was made of glitter paper and it was gorgeous! I still have plenty left for some other projects. I punched these with a small circle punch. The papers are Colorbok. I have a confession to make... many of my ribbons come from Wal-Mart. I can often find some good clearance as I did for both of the ribbons on my card today. The pink ribbon around the "buttons" was actually white and I colored it with my ProMarkers to match.

My flower today is made of a pipe-cleaner. You can find the tutorial at Scrap a Little. Helen has several easy to follow flower tutorials if you want to try some out.

Terrifically Thrilling Thursday at Shelly's Images

Hello all! It’s time for Terrifically Thrilling Thursday over at Shelly’s Images! The challenge this week is Show Us What You Got so anything goes! You can enter the challenge HERE and here’s a little inspiration from me using an image from the store called Tulips.

For my flower this time, I used the tutorial listed in an earlier post (Sisters' Stuff, Paper Loves Glue, and Mad Mim) but added some tulle between each layer and some Stickles to the edges. I've had so much fun making these flowers and burning the edges. For my latest flower, my fabric was white so I colored it lavender with my ProMarkers before I burned it.... Well, you definitely want to wait until the ink dries. Did you know that Alcohol is highly flammable... even if it is ink!!! Lol! You definitely want to have a dish of water nearby!

ProMarkers: Lavender, Orchid, Purple, Meadow Green, Apple
Stamps: Sentiment Tulips from Shelly's Images
Embossing: Sizzix Texturz Texture Plates Kit #16: Tween Vines
The rest is from my stash

Rainy Day Hedgehogs

Hello again! Another week has gone by... they go so quick! We are finally having some beautiful weather here. We're still not completely unpacked from our move yet, but I'm unpacked enough to craft! My new crafting area looks right the second story window. There's not much to see but farmland, but that's enough for me.

As you can see, I'm still playing around with handmade flowers. I used the tutorial at Craft Snob to make this flower out of felt. I also did more hand stitching. I must say, I'm getting a little quicker already.  The image is a freebie from Sliekje. I've probably mentioned her before. All of her digis are freebies and they are absolutely adorable!

I've just started using Neenah Solar White papers for my digis. What a huge difference it makes with my ProMarker blending!!!

Once again, I did not have the right color of ribbon, so I colored a white ribbon with my ProMarkers to match.

Last week, I forgot to mention the tutorial I used to create the flower (yellow flower below) on my card . I actually found it in three different places: Sisters' Stuff, Paper Loves Glue, and Mad Mim.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pay It Forward 2011

I came across this while I was browsing over at Littlesnippets Blog (she has some really beautiful handmade items). I thought it sounded like fun and a great way to share our creations. So I signed up there and am offering it to you here.

In addition, I entered Corry's blog candy at Fancy Free 4 Ever by creating a card for her sketch. I didn't win the candy, but Corry decided to send out a package to all who submitted a card! She asked us to Pay It Forward.

"Pay It Forward" is the idea of blessing someone with a random act of kindness without expecting anything in return. It’s passing on a kindness, hoping that your recipients will do the same, and forming a never-ending chain of goodwill. But it isn’t only kindness, it is also a means to connect and share instead of just keeping it to ourselves.

"I promise to send an original creation to the 1st 5 people who leave a comment here.  They must, in turn, post this, and send something they make to the 1st 5 people who comment on their status."

Here's what you need to do:

1.  Leave a comment on this post. I will send a handmade gift to the first 5 commenters.

2. Create a post on your blog offering the same.

3. Send a handmade item to your first 5 commenters.

4. It must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011.

Please do not sign up unless you are fully committed to making your 5 items!

Thanks for stopping by!
Heather

Update 5/08/11
Look what Little Snippets sent me!!!!! It is simply darling! Thank you so much Geraldine!!!

Big Thanks to Corry and Pay It Forward 2011 Reminder

I want to give a shout out to Corry at Fancy Free 4 Ever who sent me this lovely package containing DP and an adorable handmade tag! I entered her blog candy by creating a card for her sketch. I didn't win the candy, but Corry decided to send out a surprise package to all who submitted a card! She asked us to Pay It Forward and I hope that you will go to my Pay It Forward 2011 page and participate. All the details are there.

Ava in Pink and Yellow

Sorry I've been away. Our landlord gave us the opportunity to move to a nicer apartment, but only gave us a week to do it! So, last weekend I was moving. Glad it's over and so glad to be in the nicer place.

This weekend I've been playing with making my own flowers. There are so many tutorials out there. The flower on this card is a burnt edges flower. Quite fun! I actually only had white fabric, so I colored it with my ProMarkers. The image is from Bugaboo - Ava Flower. The patterned paper is hard to see. It's a yellow paisley from Colorbok. The solid papers are from my stash. The pink paper is embossed with swirls. The yellow ribbon over the lace is organza (I colored it with my ProMarkers as well). This is the first time I've tried stitching. Boy does it take a long time! I'm not one to do much sewing. I'd rather use a safety pin instead of sew a button back on, lol. But, several of the flowers I've tried require sewing... maybe I'll get faster with practice!
