New Digis at Shelly's Images and Mo's Make a Wish Card

On to my card... My image today is the Make a Wish fundraiser image from Mo's Digital Pencil. One of the challenges that I am entering this in is "Girls with Curls" from the Cheerful Stamp Pad. As some of you may know, having curly hair can really define your life in ways. It has certainly defined mine. I can't tell you how many times I wished, begged and pleaded with God to straighten my hair! Curly hair can be quite traumatic for a young girl unless she was lucky enough to grow up in the eighties or knew how to take care of her hair. I only learned how to take care of mine well into adulthood - after years of straightening it. I've come to embrace my curliness and I want to hear a shout out from all the curlies out there! I once again used digital papers from Sherry K Designs. I really love these paper packs and the way they coordinate so easily. I added three brown mini buttons from Pizzazz Aplenty. My stitching this time was done using the Sew Easy tool. I love it, however, it does not pierce deeply. It was fine piercing through a single sheet of paper and through a single sheet of cardstock, but I don't think it will penetrate layers as easily. It sure beats piercing single holes by hand and I think I will really enjoy it as I use it more.

I made this flower using the same Mel Stampz tutorial as a couple of days ago. This was actually the first flower I made with the tutorial, but it was too big for the card I was making at the time. I distressed the edges and added chalk. I embossed the pink cardstock with the Tim Holtz Checkerboard embossing folder.

I have to say that I generally don't like the red, white, blue combo for my projects, but I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. I usually can't make those colors gel. My ribbon is from Wal-Mart and my embossing is a Texturz plate from Sizzix.

My flower is a burnt edge flower with Stickles added to the edges.

Paper Sundaes Design Team Call

Paper Sundaes has opened up their Design Team call. They've asked that applicants feature three projects in a blog post. I am reposting some cards that I have made recently. The first is an image from Elisabeth Bell.

I thought this stamp was so cute! The papers are digis from Sherry K Designs. The ribbon is from Wal-Mart. I used a Fiskar's Scalloped Border Punch. You can find the flower tutorial at Crafty Sisters. The centers were made using my new I-Top that I won from Frosted Designs. I really love this tool. It is so easy to customize my flower centers. For these flowers I used brown polka dotted paper with gold tulle over the top to match the tulle in the flower layers. I used small and medium I-Top brads.

Next up is an image from By Lori Designs. Her images are adorable! This little girl is a Puddle Jumper and comes in a set of three girls: Shelby, Quinn & Daisy. Shelby is attached using dimensionals which is hard to see in the picture. The challenge at By Lori Designs is a color challenge and you will see the colors listed below. The darker pink polka dot paper came from my stash and the light pink polka dots came from SKhedr Designs and is a from a digital pack called Breeze Mega Paper Pack. She has several coordinating paper packs that I am really enjoying. I used a scalloped border punch from Fiskars (that I accidentally put on the wrong side for the sketch).

I experimented with a new flower and you can find the tutorial over at Mel Stampz. It took a little longer to make, but I love the end result. I simply freehanded my petals and used pink cardstock. I did not add any dyes as the tutorial shows. The ribbon I used was salvaged from a gift sack and the centers are pink rhinestone brads.

The flower on this card is a burnt edges flower. Quite fun! I actually only had white fabric, so I colored it with my ProMarkers. The image is from Bugaboo - Ava Flower. The patterned paper is hard to see. It's a yellow paisley from Colorbok. The solid papers are from my stash. The pink paper is embossed with swirls. The yellow ribbon over the lace is organza (I colored it with my ProMarkers as well). This is the first time I've tried stitching. Boy does it take a long time! I'm not one to do much sewing. I'd rather use a safety pin instead of sew a button back on, lol. But, several of the flowers I've tried require sewing... maybe I'll get faster with practice!

And finally, I couldn't resist adding this cute little guy from DigiStamp Boutique. The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations. I really like how this turned out.

The papers and ribbon are from my stash. The brads and flowers are from Doodlebug Design and were part of the Blog Candy that I won from Bows & Berries.

Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images

Welcome to another Marvelous Monday! Today is my "official" start on the Shelly's Images design team. Shelly originally drew this adorable Pekingese by request. It is on sale today only over in the store. Be sure to stop by the blog to see what the rest of the design team did with this beautiful image. Our guest designer this week is Debbie Harris who has made a gorgeous easel card with this image.

For my card I used white organza ribbon and made the flower using the burned edge technique and added stickles and a rhinestone brad. The paper is from DCWV's La Creme stack. The image is stacked with dimensionals between each layer, though it doesn't show well in the picture.

Magnetic Bookmark

Good morning! I've been meaning to make some bookmarks for a while. I'm a big reader and bookmarks are important to me, lol! My favorite kind are magnetic so that while I am reading I can clip them to a page and not worry about dropping or misplacing them. So, for this bookmark I used Basic Grey's Magnetic Disks. You can see it clipped to a page below.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I used a freebie image from Meljen's. The paper I used is from Sherry K Designs. The little crochet flower is from Pizzazz Aplenty. If you haven't checked this store out, I really encourage you to do so. Judy Bennett is a sweet woman who has some unique embellishments at great prices. The ribbon is from my stash, colored with a ProMarker.

I recently discovered By Lori Designs. Her images are adorable! This little girl is a Puddle Jumper and comes in a set of three girls: Shelby, Quinn & Daisy. This little monster image is back in green and blue. :) Another of my favorite color combos, especially with the brown thrown in. I added some stickles to the edge of my flower this time. I'm really loving the Neenah cardstock for coloring with my ProMarkers.

Springtime Bike Ride

My card this evening features a freebie image by Sleikje. I've mentioned her before, but you really have to visit her site. She has loads of adorable freebies. I colored this little image with my ProMarkers. I used no patterned papers but did emboss my background paper with a Sizzix Texturz Plate. The red strip is actually a wide satin ribbon backed with pink paper. I hand stitched the edges.
